Training, education and skills


Skill development and transmission of know-how are at the heart of the textile industry's challenges.

UIT is leading the policy of skill development in relation with :

  • its regional unions and branch federations, and a network of 25 schools, CFAs   and training organizations,
  • its CPNEF (Commissions Paritaire Nationale Emploi Formation; National Joint Committees on Employment and Training),
  • its Competence Operator OPCO 2i (inter-industry operator in charge of HR, career development training, education and apprenticeship projects),
  • the Ministries of Labor (DGEFP) and National Education for the State,
  • and EURATEX at European level.


2020 Action Lines

Reinforcement of integration through personalized work-linked studies

  • Develop "upstream" collective actions in the field to identify and group together needs, and thus be able to act better collectively with Pôle Emploi (French unemployment agency) and other players.
  • Develop support for companies that introduce work-study programs. This approach is currently being tested.


Development of actions to make the sector more attractive

- Communication at both national and regional levels.

- Continuing to provide information on jobs, career development training and education, useful to young people in their early career stage as well as those involved in personnel integration: partnership with ONISEP (The National Education and Occupational Information Office).

- Need for the multiple actions to be part of a coherent approach. A major showcase: l’Observatoire des métiers which lists jobs and training courses.

- Finally, develop the "employer brand", particularly through the French Tex approach.



Multiply the actions to develop personnel skills at all levels

- Need for methodologies and support related to the expansion of internal career development training and the need for the transmission of know-how.

- Continued development and management of the CQP/CQPI (recognized and certified professional qualification).

- Upgrading of skills or "upskilling" from the first levels to the intermediate/higher levels, with the help of new professional training paths that respond to trends in the evolution of TMC (textile fashion and leather sector  ) activities.


Better anticipation of sector’s evolution

- In addition to the various studies carried out, develop a sector-based provisional management of jobs and skills, particularly based on the continuous analysis of data from aided contracts. 


Through OPCO2i, the new inter-industry operator in charge of HR, skills, career development, education and apprenticeship projects. UIT maintains close relations with textile schools and universities. OPCO2i is also in charge of collecting its apprenticeship tax.
